Our feature Sound Check gives you a first hand look at a Rocksposed Artist that you simply can't miss!
We'll tell you who they are, why they're a must listen, and where you can find more of them.
Chicago’s Waterstreet formed their unique sound from honing in influences ranging from The Yardbirds to Queens of the Stone Age. Combining an old school sound with some familiar modern elements, the band has amassed a remarkably strong following stretching from Chicago to other major cities throughout the Mid-West.
Touring in support of their EP “Of Gossip” which was released back in July, Waterstreet is currently making their way through Central Illinois. With big shows coming up this weekend, what can you expect from the band? Check out this video for a taste of what they have to offer!
3/11 Gramophone St. Louis 10pm
3/12 Springfield 8pm
4/2 Crusens, Peoria, IL
THIS WEEKEND in Springfield, IL!
They will be one of three Rocksposure Artists taking the stage at the Captial City Bar and Grill. If you need a heavy dose of Rock on Saturday night like we do, don’t miss these guys with Red Letter Merchant, and Mindset Evolution. If you live too far to make it in time, we’ll be featuring video from all three bands next week. (Not to rub it in that you weren’t there........well actually it might be a little bit about that).
Waterstreet delivers their classic rock sound with incredible stage presence, you don’t want to miss their set on Saturday, here’s proof:
“Of Gossip” is a great 5 song EP that effectively takes all of the bands major influences and blends them into one unique sound. Waterstreet's music does a great job keeping you guessing as to where they will end up musically on “Of Gossip”. Case in point is “Psycho”; what opens with a Hendrix-esque guitar hook changes into a calmer more subdued tune before finding it's way back to the swagger it started with. Known for their stage presence, "Come on Back" gives a great glimpse into the live prowess of Waterstreet. The band did a fabulous job capturing the energy of their live performances in the studio. There are no shortage of great guitar effects and solos on any of the tracks from "Of Gossip" especially as the band shifts to the more somber "Glass Bones and Paper Skin". Great guitar players are without a doubt the common thread of all the musical influences they list and Waterstreet has centered the music on the EP around that premise. The energy captured on the EP is beyond impressive, I for one can't wait to see how it transitions to the stage on Saturday night in Springfield.
