Sleeping in the Aviary

BAND PROFILE
Eclectic "post-crunk" Madison rockers Sleeping in the Aviary followed the madcap pop-punk of their 2007 debut, "Oh, This Old Thing?" with an equally frantic, terrifying, and hilarious carom through alt country and indie folk on 2008's "Expensive Vomit in a Cheap Hotel." Lead singer and songwriter Eliot Kozel rants broken-hearted fever dreams that waver beat by beat between heartfelt confessional and violent black comic revenge fantasy, the sing-a-long harmonies blasting off as squirmy feelings are still left flapping around on stage. Whether they're pummeling you live or tearing your heart out and whapping your funny bone with it on record, Sleeping in the Aviary are essential listening.
