Band Bio
In the iced-over Minnesota winter of 2010, good night, gold dust began as an acoustic duo for singer/rhythm guitarist Laura Schultz and lead guitarist Colin Scharf. Shortly after the pair’s first show, Josh Willaert and Eric Blake joined on drums and bass, and the band began honing its sound. On her own, Laura’s intimate, anxious, bluesy howl could bring any barroom to its knees, but when Colin weaves his melodic, Television-esque lead lines and angular solos atop Eric’s bouncing bass and Josh’s lockstep drumming, the group sounds like they flew from San Francisco in the 60’s to the Bowery in the 70’s and crash-landed in the Midwest today. For good night, gold gust, music isn’t about playing what’s trendy; it’s about distilling their myriad influences and idiosyncrasies into songs that feel and sound right to them, that create a space in which they can be vulnerable, brazen, nervous, and calm.
